PF teen gets prison time for role in shooting
An 18-year-old Post Falls man was sentenced to prison Monday for his role in a shooting that left another man injured.
District Judge Barry McHugh sentenced Ashlan Taylor Hjelmstrom to a 10-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after three years for aggravated battery and a 10-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after three years for unlawful discharge of an occupied vehicle, according to a press release from the Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office.
The charges stemmed from an April 5 incident when Hjelmstrom and Devin Corles Spring shot at a vehicle occupied by Spring’s then girlfriend and another man, the release said.
One of the bullets struck the man in the leg.
Police officers later found two handguns hidden in a bag at a third party’s residence.
Spring pleaded guilty to identical charges Tuesday and is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 18 by McHugh.
