PROP 1: I want my vote to count

| November 1, 2024 1:00 AM

Just heard a radio ad from proponents of Prop 1 inferring a small group of Idahoans nefariously conspired to change the State’s elections process from open to closed primaries because they couldn't get their way. But isn’t that’s what happening now, a small, newly formed group with big money doing the same thing? Moreover, based on other LTEs, it sounds like people are making their prop 1 voting choice based on their opinions of local central committee members and their actions instead of considering the real consequences of a jungle primary and ranked choice voting. Yes, open primaries are ranked, choice voting. Washington and California elections use this method and being a former California voter, I can say without reservation, once that change was made, my vote never counted and I was forced to live within the crazy confines of a Democrat supermajority. Bottom line, registered independents knew they would never be eligible to vote in any Party primary election but eligible to vote for any Party in the general election. If voting in a Party primary is important then register for a Party.
