Kootenai sheriff's office looking for inmate released from jail by mistake

COEUR d'ALENE — The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is searching for an inmate released from jail by mistake Monday.

 A nationwide parole violation warrant has been issued for Daniel J. Billingsley, 46, of Bayview, a press release said. 

An internal investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the release.

Billingsley has a criminal history in Kootenai County dating back over 17 years which includes arrests for narcotics, burglary, robbery, fraud, battery and domestic violence, the release said. 

The release said he is "not considered an imminent threat to the citizens of Kootenai County."

Billingsley was sentenced to the Idaho Department of Corrections and had been transported to Kootenai County to face local Fish and Game charges.

Anyone in contact with Billingsley or aware of his whereabouts is encouraged to call law enforcement.
