First Northwest Hunt Fest in Coeur d’Alene

| May 2, 2024 1:00 AM

Northwest Hunt Fest is making its grand debut at the North Idaho Fairgrounds in Coeur d’Alene on May 10-11.

The family-friendly event aims to unite hunters across all levels of expertise, offering unique opportunities for learning, competition and camaraderie.

Idaho Fish and Game in the Panhandle Region has partnered with Northwest Hunt Fest to provide additional opportunities for those in attendance.

The Fish and Game 3-D Youth Archery Range will be open to event attendees on both days. The range was built and opened to the public for the 2023 North Idaho State Fair, and Fish and Game is excited to once again expose more kids to archery.

In addition to the range, a new “touch and feel” station will be open to the public, where attendees can get their hands on a variety of furs, claws and skulls from wildlife that call Idaho home.

Fish and Game will also have its Citizens Against Poaching trailer on-site, as well as its Bear Education trailer, complete with a remote-controlled grizzly bear and inert cans of bear spray so folks can practice their bear spraying techniques.

Fish and Game staff and volunteers will be hosting two seminars each day. The first will cover blood trailing, scent and tracking in the field, and the second will cover the intricacies of accessing the diverse public lands in the Panhandle.

Lastly, 2024 marks the 125th anniversary of Fish and Game. To celebrate the event, Fish and Game staff will be showcasing a video and speaking about the anniversary Saturday evening.
