Sharon Dillon, 85, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away peacefully March 22, 2024, in Pullman, Wash. Sharon was born to Waldon and Verona Thompson on March 29, 1938, in Wichita, Kan. Sharon lived in Wichita with her brother, Richard, and sister Linda and then later moved to Colorado, where she met her husband, George Dwayne Dillon. Sharon and Dwayne married in 1961 and moved to several places around Colorado due to Dwayne’s job. They eventually moved to Washington and lived in Spokane and Grand Coulee. They adopted two children, Dennis and Delisa while living in Spokane. In 1977, they moved to Rathdrum, Idaho.

In 1978, Sharon helped start the Rathdrum Food Bank and has been instrumental in running it ever since, right up until shortly before her death. Her work there was all volunteer and something she deeply believed in and enjoyed doing. She also spent many years running a day care, helping with the WIC program and many other community and school programs. She was outgoing and loved to talk to people, and many people in the Rathdrum area knew her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne, sister Linda, brother Richard, and parents Waldon and Verona. She is survived by son Dennis Dillon, daughter Delisa Lindstrom (husband Brad), and grandchildren Craig Dillon, Samuel Lindstrom, Sarah Lindstrom and Christina Lindstrom.

A memorial service followed by a potluck reception will be held at the Rathdrum Lions Club on April 21, 2024, at 1 pm. Memorial gifts to the Rathdrum Food Bank can be made in Sharon’s memory.
