Lillian Dodson, 92

| March 30, 2024 1:00 AM

Lillian Dodson, Artist 92, was born into spirit March 18, 2024, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Lillian was a giving person who gifted those around her with love, devotion and friendship. To know Lill was like getting to know an old friend you just met for the first time. She always had her door open for all of us who were lucky enough to walk through it. She will be missed by her family and friends, who always knew that she loved every one of them so very much.

She led an incredible life, flourishing as an artist in N.Y. for almost 60 years before moving to Idaho in 2011, where she has taken part in the local art community ever since. Lillian was always focused on her art. She purchased her last 100 pounds of clay for her next pottery round just a month before she left us.

Through the many years of her long career, she has been celebrated as an artist who could flourish in almost any medium, being highly praised by the art community for her work in both painting and ceramics. She taught art classes at the Huntington Art League in New York through 1989 and was a professor at Hofstra University through 2004. It was a career that brought her in contact with some of the greatest artists of her generation, including her late husband, Stanley Twardowicz, who passed away in 2008.

She has now gone to reunite with Stanley as well as her firstborn son, Kurt, and she leaves behind a vast collection of us all who will miss her dearly. We will miss her smile and the joy she always gave out so freely. We will miss the love that she always made sure you knew was there waiting for you. Lillian Dodson was a gift to us all. May her Journey onward be as full as the life she left behind. Always positive, always so happy, always a light that shined bright. She will be remembered, missed and always Loved.
