Nancy Ellen (Chandler) Johansen, born Jan. 15, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., to Henry and Winnie (Daves) Chandler, passed away peacefully March 17, 2024, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House after spending a beautiful day surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Nancy spent her formative years in San Francisco, graduating from Balboa High School and starting her family shortly after. She lived in Corte Madera, Calif., raising four children. In 1978, she relocated to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with her two daughters and began a fulfilling career as a nurse at Kootenai Medical Center's transitional care unit, retiring in 2003. She truly loved being a nurse and was the last nurse at Kootenai who wore her nursing cap every day.

Nancy is survived by sons Robert Brobeck (daughter Maya and son Jason); Kenneth Brobeck (wife Linda and son Nicholas); daughter Holly Hayden (husband Mark, daughter Katherine, son Joel and his girlfriend, Kathryn Tiger); brother Kenneth Chandler and favorite sister-in-law Carol. She is also survived by granddaughter Amanda May (husband Nicholas), grandson Daniel Rose, great-grandson Daniel Wayne Jr., great-granddaughters Charlie and Violet May, her beloved grand-dog Carson, and nieces Jodie Sevedge, Lori Chandler and nephew Troy Chandler.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Pamela Brobeck, four older brothers, as well as a younger sister.

Known for her strong faith, Nancy faced her final days with grace, comforted by the fact that she would soon be with Jesus and reunited with her daughter, Pam.

Nancy's legacy of love, faith and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence. May she rest in peace, knowing she is forever cherished and remembered.

The family would like to thank the care teams at Kootenai Health and Hospice of North Idaho for outstanding care.

At Nancy’s request, no services will be held. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of arrangements. Please visit Nancy’s memorial and sign her online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
