BOISE — Senior Isaac Ziegler hit a grand slam for Post Falls in the second inning, finishing with seven RBIs for the Trojans, who held on late to beat the Borah Lions 10-9 in the opening game of the Buck’s Bags Tournament at Wigle Field on Thursday.

“Isaac is seeing the ball really well for us right now and cashed it at the right time,” Post Falls coach Kurt Reese said. “We had 10 hits and 10 runs, but kind of fell asleep in the fifth inning. We had some guys in their first games of the year pitching that struggled, but we were able to hang on when we needed it.”

Junior Caleb Jimmerson, who struck out seven in four innings on the mound, also had two RBIs and a run scored for Post Falls (3-0), which led 10-0 in the top of the fifth inning. Borah rallied in the bottom of the fifth with eight runs. Borah stranded the tying run on first base in the seventh.

Post Falls faces Bishop Kelly and Capital of Boise today at Capital High.
