Wild and Scenic Film Festival set in Sandpoint

| March 21, 2024 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is hosting the 22nd annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival at the Panida Theater in Sandpoint on Friday.

The Festival will feature a curated collection of nine films about the natural world and inspiring stories of people who find solace and adventure within it.

"It is a celebration of wild places, human resilience, and communities built on compassion," a press release said.

You'll join in the journey of Katie Veteto as she learns how to “drive sweep” down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. You’ll see India Wood buck the traditional way of recreating while she strikes a novel path across the state of Colorado. We’ll celebrate Apayauq Reitan’s journey as the first out transgender woman to complete the legendary Iditarod sled dog race across Alaska.

Ticketholders can also look forward to prizes and Super Star Supporter ticket holders are invited to a hosted pre-event reception at Eichardt’s Pub. Prizes will include gear from Six Moon Designs, a springtime flyover of the Scotchmans in a Cessna 185 and baskets from Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters.

Proceeds will go toward trail building, outdoor education and keeping goats wild in the Scotchmans.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7.
