PF Chamber's Reverse Job Fair set for March 20

| March 14, 2024 1:05 AM

Post Falls High School seniors will once again participate in the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce's Reverse Job Fair, set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 20 at Real Life Ministries, 1860 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls.

In its 17th year, this annual event has become a staple in the Post Falls High School curriculum, providing a unique opportunity for seniors to gain insights into their chosen career paths.

Throughout the school year, about 300 Post Falls High School seniors engage in extensive projects involving research and job shadowing in their respective fields of interest. The culmination of their efforts is showcased at the Reverse Job Fair, which is designed to assist seniors in understanding and connecting with their desired career fields.

The "reverse interviews" that take place at the fair involve students presenting comprehensive overviews of their chosen industries, including resumes, cover letters and career boards.

This not only fulfills a graduation requirement but also offers seniors the chance to vie for award money, generously donated by local businesses. Financial assistance can be instrumental in supporting their future endeavors, whether it involves furthering their education or acquiring essential equipment.

“I enjoyed my experience with the Reverse Job Fair when I participated many years ago,” Post Falls High alumni Chanse Watson said in a news release. “The award money I received at that event motivated me to go to college after high school and pursue my career goals.”

Volunteers from a variety of fields help make this event happen every year. Community members grade interviews, give feedback and guide the local high school seniors. Volunteers are still needed, especially in trades and construction jobs.
