LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene, behind nine semifinals, leads after the first day of the Clearwater Classic at Lewiston High.

Rocco White (98 pounds), Justus Peregrina (106), Carter Newby (113), Will Rossi (120), Mason Rogers (126), Jordan Schield (132), Logan Bradley (138), Colton Tucker (145) and Gabe Grassel (182) advanced for Coeur d’Alene, which leads the 20-team tournament with 114.5 points.

“We just wrestled hard and stayed after some people,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We definitely wrestled a lot better than last night (a 52-27 win over Lake City) and did a good job of scoring points. Jordan hadn’t wrestled since Tri-State, and we rested some guys that are banged up. Good chance for these guys to get some good wrestling. We’ll see if we can push some guys into the finals tomorrow.”

Tournament host Lewiston is second with 95 points, followed by Moscow in third with 84 points and Kellogg fourth with 82.5 points.

Kelby Harvey (113), Aiden Yearout (160) and Trey Gibson (182) advanced to the semis for St. Maries, which is fifth with 79 points.

In the girls tournament, Coeur d’Alene’s Cara Brown (138) and Brooklyn Anderson (145-152) went unbeaten in the round-robin tournament on the first day.

Wrestling resumes today at 9 a.m.
