NIC MEN'S BASKETBALL: Tollestrup hits eight 3s as Cardinals win by 81

COEUR d’ALENE — Tanner Tollestrup, a 6-foot-5 freshman guard from San Diego, hit eight 3-pointers and scored 26 points in 26 minutes off the bench as the North Idaho College men’s basketball team rolled to a 130-49 victory over Community Christian of Redlands, Calif., on Friday afternoon at Rolly Williams Court.

Tollestrup hit 8 of 13 free throws for NIC (18-6), which was 19 of 37 from deep. Cobi Campbell added 21 points. The Cardinals got 82 points from its bench, including 19 from Tayshawn Colvin. Bryce Henry (Lakeland High) had 13 rebounds and eight assists, and Austin Johnson had nine assists.

Xavier Lopez scored 15 points for Community Christian (0-8), which played six and had one player foul out.

NIC’s men play host to Southern Nevada today at 3 p.m., following the women’s game at 1.

Community Christian’s men are slated to play at the College of Southern Idaho today. The Community Christian women, due to a shortage of numbers, did not make the trip north.
