Fire department to train at former Bonsai Bistro, MoMos
The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department will be training next week at the site of two former restaurants in the downtown area.
The training is scheduled 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 11 to Dec. 17 at 101 Sherman Ave., which was previously home to Bonsai Bistro and then MoMo Sushi Wok & Grill. The building has been vacant for nearly five years.
It is scheduled to be demolished to make way for The Hagadone Corporation’s “Sherman Tower” that will feature 139 rooms, a 6,000-square-foot restaurant with a seasonal rooftop bar and nearly 4,000 square feet of retail and office space. It will also have a detached three-level parking structure at First and Lakeside Avenue.
Construction could begin next year with a goal to open in the spring of 2027.
The fire department will be training at different times of the day.
"It is not a real fire or emergency," a press release said. "We will be using fake smoke to simulate conditions for search and rescue operations."
