Dwight Bershaw Memorial Point .5K on Saturday
COEUR d'ALENE — "The race for the rest of us," is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and end at 10:05 on Saturday at McEuen Park.
The Dwight Bershaw Memorial Point .5K, put on by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Coeur d'Alene, is billed as "500 meters of grueling terrain over a pancake-flat paved trail. You can do it!"
The $25 registration fee includes a University of Lake Coeur d'Alene T-shirt, window sticker and doughnuts at the halfway point of the course, which comes out to 19,685 inches.
Proceeds will go to charitable causes supported by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Coeur d'Alene.
The event honors the memory of Dwight Bershaw, who died Aug. 20, 2021, at the age of 54. A Rotarian, he was known for his love of Coeur d’Alene, hiking Tubbs Hill and picking up trash, and giving his time and talents to beautify the city.
A Dwight Bershaw memorial bench created by the Rotary Club is at the base of Tubbs Hill.
Registration will be available on race day.
