Behind the big names in music are singer-songwriters who help craft the hits.

Four Nashville-based hitmakers will be coming to Coeur d'Alene to share behind-the-scenes stories from 8 to 10 p.m. Aug. 29 during the inaugural Sunset to Summer concert, presented in partnership with the Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association and the Listening Room from Nashville.

Liz Rose, Phil Barton, Danny Myrick and AJ Kross will bring a Listening Room experience on the road when they perform and share tales of the industry at Sunset to Summer.

"They have written songs released by many big artists like Taylor Swift, Lee Brice, Eli Young Band, Jason Aldean, Craig Morgan and more," Listening Room founder Chris Blair said in a Wednesday email to The Press. "I'm looking forward to introducing them and the Listening Room experience to all of you."

The Listening Room Cafe in the heart of the Music City is a live music venue and restaurant Blair founded in 2006 to provide a local venue he felt had the sound and atmosphere Nashville artists deserved.

"When I created the Listening Room, my mission was to connect people to the stories behind the songs from the songwriters themselves," Blair said. "I feel that the Listening Room is such a special place, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that should be shared outside of our four walls in Nashville, Tenn."

He said audiences will enjoy hearing those behind-the-scenes stories from those who closely work with some of the biggest names in the business.

"Most of the songs people love and hear on the radio aren't written by the artists themselves, but by a dedicated camp of songwriters who pour their real-life experiences into the music," Blair said.

He said the mission of the Listening Room is to deliver the true stories behind the songs to audiences — from the songwriters themselves.

"These stories not only reveal the deep, personal connections the writers have with the lyrics but also highlight the vital role songwriters play in shaping the music we all enjoy — in every genre of music — not just country music," he said. "As a songwriter myself, it brings me immense joy to amplify these talented writers and share their stories, giving them the recognition and stage they deserve."

Jerid Keefer, a Sunset to Summer event coordinator, said Coeur d'Alene is a special place that deserves special opportunities like a Listening Room concert.

"To be able to bring a great community together for an event that is hopefully annual — to bring an experience like the Listening Room combined with the local food vendors and food trucks, the local breweries, the local components — is something I'm very much looking forward to," Keefer said. "Music is really something that brings us together. It's celebrating another great summer in Coeur d'Alene, a city we all love in a season we all love."

Tickets begin at $25. All ages welcome.
