Arbor Day celebration on Friday at Atlas park

COEUR d'ALENE — The city of Coeur d’Alene is holding an Arbor Day celebration on Friday at the Atlas Mill River Park.

It includes tree plantings at 10 a.m. followed by distribution of free tree seedlings in partnership with the Arbor Day Organization of North Idaho. There will be tree information, a raffle for a few larger-scale trees and complimentary doughnuts and coffee.

Since 1987, the Arbor Day Organization of North Idaho has gifted over 75,000 trees representing over 70 different species to local fourth graders.

The city of Coeur d’Alene is celebrating its 40th consecutive year as being recognized as a Tree City USA.
