Rain didn't dampen Labor Day concert

The Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra played to dedicated concert lovers Labor Day, despite the downpour at the Rotary Club Bandshell in City Park. Tents and umbrellas peppered the park so supporters could enjoy the show.
The symphony concert, led by music director Danh Pham, performed light classical and pop pieces ranging from Mozart to George Gershwin and Rodgers and Hammerstein. The symphony brought down the house with “Skyfall” performed by award-winning vocalist Sydney Glover.
During intermission, symphony volunteers passed hats representing different labor forces including hard hats, fire helmets, police caps and others for donations to support the symphony and the Coeur d’Alene Police Canine Association.
Officer Justin Bangs spoke about the K-9 unit and was available to answer questions. He was accompanied by his partner, Ramos, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois from The Netherlands.
The symphony will kick off its 2023-24 season Sept. 30 at the Schuler Performing Arts Center at North Idaho College.
