PREP ROUNDUP: Steckman, Lakeland boys win at Post Falls tourney

POST FALLS — Lakeland sophomore Cannon Steckman shot a 1-over-par 70 to earn medalist honors and lead the Hawks to the boys team title at the Post Falls Invitational on Monday at Prairie Falls Golf Club.

Lakeland shot 303, finishing 13 strokes ahead of Lewiston.

Lewiston, led by medalist Molly Seibly’s 69, won the girls tournament.

Kylie Munday new career kill leader at Post Falls

POST FALLS — A Munday remains the career kill leader at Post Falls.

Senior Kylie Munday eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark on Monday night, and surpassed her sister, Allison, as the Trojans’ career kill leader as Post Falls split a pair of matches at the Arena.

Post Falls swept Moscow 25-23, 25-14, 25-19, then lost to Gonzaga Prep 25-22, 26-28, 25-19, 27-25.

“We had some stretches where we played really well,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said.

Munday had 11 kills, 16 assists and seven digs for Post Falls (13-2) against Moscow. Trinity Byrne had 11 kills, and Lucy Carr had 12 assists, six digs and four aces.

Against G-Prep, Munday had 18 kills, 18 assists, two blocks, 16 digs and two aces. Byrne had 12 kills, Carr 23 assists, Vanessa Kison 15 digs, Kaela Gump two blocks and two aces, Maleah Wilhelm two aces.

Post Falls travels to Sandpoint on Thursday for an Inland Empire League match.

BONNERS FERRY — Sophomore Karstyn Kiefer, normally a midfielder, was moved up to forward and notched two goals and an assist as the Hawks blanked the Badgers in nonleague play.

“She’s just been playing physical, and playing hard, and we needed someone to put it in the back of the net,” Lakeland coach Kevin Rogge said.

Junior Ruby McIntosh notched her first shutout for Lakeland (2-4-0).

“We played a good game; we had lots of shots,” Rogge said. “Glad we got the shots we did, but we’ve got to work on finishing.”

Lakeland’s game today with Priest River was postponed due to a shortage of players for the Spartans.

Next up for the Hawks is a trip to north Spokane on Thursday to play St. George’s.

Bonners Ferry is 3-3-0.
