Beach, boat launch to close for Hayden Lake marathon

HAYDEN LAKE — Honeysuckle Beach and boat launch will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday until about 3 p.m. Saturday for the annual Hayden Lake Marathon. Only local resident access will be allowed. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed.

No city of Hayden roads or streets will be completely closed for the event, but the northbound lane of Smith Road will be used for event parking, according to a city press release.

The intersection of Honeysuckle Avenue and Strahorn Road will be utilized for the marathon route, so flaggers will be stationed there to direct traffic. The boat launch will re-open aroound 3 p.m. Saturday.

Several hundred runners are expected to complete distances ranging from 3.1 miles to a full marathon, 26.2 miles.
