Cd'A man arrested after reported knife incident

COEUR d'ALENE — A Coeur d'Alene man was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault Wednesday.

Police said Angelo David Hunter, 48, was booked into the Kootenai County jail.

According to a press release, police officers responded to the report of an assault with a knife shortly before 1 p.m.

The apartment manager and a maintenance man were inspecting an apartment in the 7700 block of North Heartland Drive when Hunter, a resident, became agitated and threatened them with a knife, the release said. Both victims were able to safely leave the apartment.

Hunter was initially contacted by officers but retreated into the apartment, the release said. 

"He was uncooperative when officers tried to communicate with him and he refused to come outside," the release said.

Officers remained on scene until a SWAT unit arrived. Hunter then surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
