Human remains found near Twin Lakes

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is investigating human remains found in the Twin Lakes area.

The sheriff's office said in a news release deputies responded to the area of Timber Ridge Road just before 10 this morning after it was reported that human remains were discovered. A group of local hunters were on their private property when the remains were found. Kootenai County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Kootenai County Coroner's Office responded to the scene to investigate.

The remains appear to have been in that location for many months, the sheriff's office reported. The identity of the remains and cause of death are unknown at this time.

Information will be released as the investigation progresses.
