FOOD DRIVE: Many families will be helped

Last week, the Kootenai County Democrats’ Community Outreach Committee put out a call for our annual food drive — and the community answered with an overwhelming response. Because of the incredible generosity of KC Dem members and the local community, in just five hours during the drive-through/drop-off event, our hardy volunteers braved wind and rain to gather over 2,000 pounds of food and goods and $2,000 in donations. Altogether, that equates to thousands of meals. Meals that will feed local families, friends and neighbors. It’s heartening to see how generous our community is to this non-partisan event. Both the Coeur d’Alene (Community Action Partnership) and Post Falls food banks are the beneficiaries of the food drive, and innumerable families will have a more bountiful Thanksgiving because of everyone who donated.
