LOCAL WATCH: Former Card Mims shines in Vandals romp

MOSCOW — Julius Mims had 16 points in Idaho’s 96-52 win over Division-III Pacific Lutheran on Friday night.
Mims, the former North Idaho College star, added nine rebounds and five assists for the Vandals (2-2). Quinn Denker scored 16 points, going 6 of 9 (2 for 4 from 3-point range). Terren Frank had 14 points and was 5-of-9 shooting and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Titus Yearout saw his first action of the second half come with just under 11 minutes to go and took advantage as soon as he stepped on the floor, setting up Frank for a three on the right side of the key to continue the Vandals’ momentum. Three possessions later, Yearout found his first open look at the right elbow and knocked it down to start a string of 10 straight points, including back-to-back threes to put Idaho up 81-44 with 6:31 remaining.
The pride of Lapwai High scored all 12 of his points on a 4 for 5 clip in 17 minutes of action.
Jason Montes led the Lutes in scoring, finishing with 13 points. Brandin Riedel added nine points and seven rebounds for Pacific Lutheran. Ashton Rico also recorded eight points.
Idaho travels to Seattle on Wednesday.
