| November 18, 2023 1:00 AM

Bradley Allen Smothermon, born April 3, 1954, in Porterville, Calif., died Nov. 9, 2023, in Goodyear, Ariz., in his winter home. His summer residence was in Hayden, Idaho, on Avondale Golf Course, where his beloved parents had lived and died.

Brad joined the Army out of high school and then joined the USPS. During his 34 years in the Postal Service, he rose up through the ranks from mail carrier to Manager Post Office Operations then retired as a Postmaster, level 24, in San Bernardino, Calif.

Brad enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years, he loved camping, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was an avid golfer and loved playing cards and traveling.

He is survived by his longtime significant other and caregiver for many years, Michele Marks. He also leaves behind his only beautiful daughter, who he loved with all his big heart, Shannon Smothermon, who resides in Riverside, Calif. His favorite sister, Cheryl Freeman, and brother-in-law Kenny Freeman live across the fairway.

Brad loved Michele and their rowdy, beautiful Pomsky, Diesel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Vi Smothermon. He loved them so deeply that it took him years to get over them, if at all. He was especially fond of and loved by cousins Amanda and Chad, all his golfing buddies, especially Jimmy Vining, and traveling buddies and best friends John Platt and Beate Boyd. He loved you all deeply.

Celebrations of life will be held in San Bernardino sometime in December and one at the Avondale Golf Course in the spring to allow time for his snowbird friends to return.
