Art wanted for hydrant design

COEUR d'ALENE — The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department is looking for a few good artists to breathe new life into old hydrants.

For several years, the fire department has had two retired, fire hydrants outside its Foster Avenue fire station as decorations. 

"They are looking a little rough after many years of service and we would like to rehab them," a press release said.

The department is looking for artists to design and paint the hydrants. Designs can be submitted until Nov. 30. Winners will be announced  in December. Each will get to paint their design on the hydrants that are displayed outside the headquarters building downtown.

To enter, download the template at cdafire.org under “community events” and use art tools of your choice to design a custom fire hydrant. Email designs to [email protected] or drop them off at Coeur d'Alene Fire Headquarters, 300 E. Foster Ave. Be sure to include the name of the designer and contact information.
