| November 1, 2023 1:00 AM

Paul Anthony Brand, 66, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, joined his heavenly family in the late hours of Oct. 15, 2023, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Paul was born Aug. 31, 1957, in Minot, N.D., to William W. and Gladys L. (Bye) Brand. He grew up in Minot, N.D., and later lived and worked in Chicago, where he met his wife, Anita Maria Stein. The couple married July 31, 1982, at the Jesus People USA community in Chicago, Ill. They eventually settled in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., before moving to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1995.

Paul's passion for his work was evident in his dedication to Koinonia House, where he served in directing video and audio production for 28 years. He also started his own video production company, Pretty Good Productions. His exceptional talent and hard work earned him three Telly awards and one Aurora award for his film work.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Paul served with the Civil Air Patrol in the Coeur d’Alene Composite Squadron for almost a decade. Major Paul Brand was a deputy squadron commander and deputy commander for seniors. He was the instructor for the Cyber Patriot team and competed alongside the cadets. His commitment and service to the organization were recognized through numerous awards and commendations.

Paul had a profound love for playing guitar, gardening, riding his motorcycle, and always enjoyed solving problems. His desire to continually educate himself led him to also be an excellent source of knowledge. He built his own house and barn, showcasing his love for craftsmanship. Here he and his four children spent their time creating a retreat befitting their love of the outdoors and gathering with friends and family.

Paul Brand leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, compassion, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the countless lives he touched along the way.

He is survived by his daughter, Krista Brand, three sons, Nathan Brand, Joshua Brand and Andrew Brand, his loving mother, Gladys Brand, two brothers, Rick Brand and Randy Brand, his sister, JuLee Brand, his four grandchildren, Calder Fogt, Malik Brand, Gemma Brand and Leerin Brand, and six nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his wife, Anita Maria (Stein) Brand, and father William W. Brand.
