ADVERTISING: Advertorial — What you do matters

Let’s start 2023 off right. I am passionate about personal health and I believe our health is our most prized possession. It amazes me how many people pay little to no attention to their health.

We know what we are supposed to eat. So why is it that so many of us still go out and chow down on cheeseburgers and fries every day? I’ll tell you why: because it won’t kill us. Not today. It is easy to eat well and it is easy not to. It is not that one junk-food meal that will harm us; but it is the thousands of meals over time. Why do you walk past the exercise bike or use it to hang clothing? Because it is easy to do. It is these simple errors in judgment combined over time that keeps us from reaching our goal.

Is there any difference when you see one person eating a good meal, and one person eating an awful meal? Or when one person is taking a walk, while another is sitting and watching the television? Nothing you can see…not today and probably not tomorrow.

The difference between success and failure is not dramatic but subtle. The truth is, what you do matters. It is the little things day in and day out that will truly make the difference in your lifetime. It is not will power. Will power is vastly overrated and fluctuates like our emotions. Instead it is positive daily actions repeated over time that matter.

The same is true of back pain. One day you bend over to pick up something and suddenly you feel a sharp pain. It wasn’t that one movement but usually the result of bending over thousands of times to pick up your kids, moving furniture, working in the yard, gardening, riding a bicycle, etc. Then one day, “Wow, I have back pain, how did that happen?” It happened, by one small event or choice, accumulating over time until we endured a result of back pain.

Let’s stop it before it starts by making small changes in how we lift, sleep, sit, stretch and work. At Natural Spine Solutions, we can provide chiropractic care to help restore proper spinal motion, teach you proper body mechanics and stretches to help avoid future injury. But it will take some time and your willingness to take small action steps.

It is those little things that will make you successful and help you secure a healthier, happier life. These are tiny things that nobody will see; nobody will applaud or probably even notice at the time you do them. It may feel like they make absolutely no difference…like they don’t matter. BUT THEY DO!
