Chase a trooper, help CASA

COEUR d'ALENE - The fifth annual 5K Foot Pursuit to benefit North Idaho CASA is scheduled June 10 at McEuen Park.

The fun run begins with a siren start for ISP troopers at 9 a.m., followed by everyone else trying to chase them down.

“We are excited our fun run has been successful for five straight years,” said Kristin Linville Ludwig, director of development for North Idaho CASA.

A press release said that of thousands of drug-exposed children in the community, the only ones under the care of child protective services are those who have been rescued from abuse, neglect or violence.

More than half of the children CASA serves are sheltered by law enforcement.

"Their dangerous living situations are discovered through either the reporting of a concerned citizen or family member or through traffic stops," the release said.

Ludwig said North Idaho CASA is celebrating its 30th year of advocacy for child victims in the First Judicial District.

"This organization is imperative to the well-being of children in this community, and the success of this event year after year shows that this community cares about its most vulnerable children," she said.

Race registration includes a T-shirt and refreshments. The first 100 finishers will receive a medal.
