2 hurt in Post Falls shooting

POST FALLS - Two people were hurt in a shooting at a Post Falls home Monday night.

The Post Falls Police Department suspects the incident was a home invasion.

"Detectives have developed information that even though the person shot and resident have no connection, this was not a random incident and there is no threat to the community," a PFPD press release said.

Police received a 911 call about 8:30 p.m. indicating that two people had been shot at a residence in the 500 block of West 13th Avenue. 

Officers found a 49-year-old man with bullet wounds to the chest and leg and a 15-year-old male with a bullet wound to the leg. 

Both were transported to Kootenai Health. The teen was treated and released, while the adult remained hospitalized Tuesday.

Capt. Mark Brantl said the person who fired the shots lived in the home and called 911. He said the teenager, who also lived in the home, was accidently shot.

The release said police determined the 49-year-old did not live at the address and had no apparent direct connection with anyone there.

An investigation continues.
