NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals claim East Region title with sweep

YAKIMA, Wash. — North Idaho College concluded the regular season with a 6-5 and 9-1 Northwest Athletic Conference sweep of the Yakima Valley Yaks to clinch the East Region title on Saturday afternoon.

NIC (39-9, 28-4 NWAC), on an 18-game win streak, opens the NWAC Championships on Thursday at Delta Park in Portland.

Freshman Emily Schulhauser had four hits and Abbey Brooks earned the win in both games for NIC, which last lost on April 15 to Bellevue in a crossover tournament.
