CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Unfair for non-property owners to vote

As a homeowner, I object to having other people who pay no taxes voting on raising my taxes. My school levy tax will go up $259 next year not $6 a month as one Reader Wrote. Check out yourself what your taxes will be on the cdaschool.org/taxcalculator. This school levy, plus the other school bonds and supplements add up to $35 more than my Kootenai County property tax. How can all of Kootenai County operate all its services on less than the schools? Enough is enough already!

Schools need to trim back like everyone else is. If they need more money, they can have School Fundraisers like my kids did, or ask the parents to pay more. It’s an unfair tax to have people who don’t own property to raise taxes on people who do own property. Most retirees are on a fixed income and can’t afford more taxes.
