CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes

Volunteering in a classroom is an education. Currently, I listen to children read in the first grade. I am troubled by the various levels of their reading ability. Some students are reading difficult chapter books while others are struggling with the very basic words. Part of this disparity is due to COVID and what some of these children missed in learning.

Some students did not attend school online because there was no parent in the home to see that the child signed in. Part of the difference is that some parents are not willing to spend time each day reading with their child which is very important, especially when their child is behind. By third grade, children need to be proficient readers.

If the current levy does not pass, the extra help that I see in the classroom helping children who are behind in math and other subjects could be eliminated.

Please think of the children when you vote and vote yes.
