REGAN: Tony is Brent

I read with great amusement Brent Regan’s recent article about “The Shirtist.”

I am quite sure he was utterly unaware that he was describing himself in the character of Tony. Tony (Brent) is the outsider who comes into a community in which the people, for the most part, got along well with each other and succeeded to their individual potential. Then Tony (Brent) finds something he doesn’t like and proceeds to turn the good people against one another by concentrating on a small segment of the population to stir up emotions to bend the community to his own, outsider, way of thinking. He assumes he is right, the rest of the community is wrong, and the standards and mores of the community must be changed to satisfy him.

In case you didn’t notice, this same scenario has played out in our own Kootenai County community over the last several years with Brent Regan at the helm of the KCRCC. You need only look at the dramas playing out at our local school boards, libraries and NIC to see the results of Tony’s, oops I mean Brent’s, meddling.

Obviously, this is not the message Mr. Regan is trying to convey, but it came across loud and clear to me.

I can’t wait for his next installment when he tries to put a new twist on “The Emperor’s New Clothes.”
