EDUCATION: Stanford to NIC

Surprisingly, Stanford University and NIC both have the “Cardinal” as their mascot! When you talk to students on both campuses one is impressed with their youth. Generally lacking experience, they may change their majors several times.

For myself it a pleasure to listen to their progress, challenges and dreams. Stanford is comprised of somewhat older students in its master’s and Ph.D. programs.

Students have given me copies of their Ph.D. theses! Sadly, I have also received student papers that received an “F” from politically-minded instructors.

Unfortunately, the administrators are often more concerned about their agendas, their control, and even their retirement benefits. And Stanford has its own recent political problems.

A required textbook at NIC may cost hundreds of dollars. Publishers often revise their books so students cannot take advantage of used texts. Students may accumulate huge debts.

Doctors Samuel “Todd” Brand, James Y. Taylor, Nick Swayne… were not given comprehensive interviews by the chief communications officer in June 2022.

Interviews of candidates for president at NIC may to be graded as incomplete. No questions were asked on their master and Ph.D. theses research or if published. I asked NIC to consider such questions. The students were short-changed again because of politics and ignorance?

A young Ph.D. student would have been a better interviewer than the NIC staff.

Several of my mentors that encouraged me were teachers!
