Sims, a senior, broke the school record in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 2.5 inches at the Sweeney Invitational on March 17 in Lewiston. The throw, six feet past her career-best, surpassed the previous mark of Cassie Burnett (40-1 ½), set in 2005. “She was consistent all day with her throws,” Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell said. “She hit that mark on her second throw, but the rest of them were right about the same distance. She had a really good day.”
