COEUR d’ALENE — A man who police said they released by mistake from the Kootenai County jail was found and taken back into custody in Montana, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A Shoshone County judge sentenced Sethen S.R. Dyreson on Monday to six years in prison for grand theft.

On Wednesday, Dyreson was booked into the Kootenai County jail on a warrant for a separate offense. He was awaiting transport to the Idaho Department of Corrections.

After his initial court appearance on the warrant matter, authorities said, Dyreson was released from custody.

The Sheriff’s Office reportedly began searching for Dyreson shortly after his release, with assistance from other agencies.

Montana Highway Patrol located Dyreson on Thursday and arrested him in St. Regis, Mont.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly conducting an internal investigation to determine how and why Dyreson was released.
