CDA SCHOOL LEVY: Failure based on content not Republicans’ campaign

| March 24, 2023 1:00 AM

Not hard to follow the sentiments expressed in your March 22 editorial about the revised school levy being brought forward. True the emphasis on “perpetuity” turned off many voters. But then came the expected zingers. First describing the local Republican Party’s campaign against the bond is of being ethically “bereft” (deprived) as an easy target. So how about giving some (of what you have a multitude of) examples. Then going on to describe the Republican leaders as “ogres.” Come on — tells us what you really think of the Republicans who must make up a great deal of your readers.

Then you berate the Republicans for having influenced the Coeur d’Alene levy not passing but then point out the Lakeland district’s also did not pass which they had supported. Can’t have it both ways. Perhaps it was the content of the levies that failed to get a majority of the vote.

Your editors have every right (and duty) to express their opinions. Just remember the people you are preaching to are just a small percentage of the choir.
