CDA LEVIES: Loss hurts children

| March 22, 2023 1:00 AM

I am a fifth-grade student of Coeur d’Alene public schools. As you might already know, both levies did not pass.

People do not realize what this means to students and teachers. Next year because of the people that voted no, there will be no more extracurricular activities like music, P.E., art, library, etc. Also, you have taken away advanced placement opportunities. Plus all students who need to be in a boost class (classes for students who need extra help) will be pushed beyond their level. Making it so school is not a fun time anymore.

Also, the schools could become unsafe without maintenance care. There are already a few schools that need help with leaking roofs or air conditioning. Ripping apart this piece of paper or laughing at what I have written will not change what you have done. It hurts my soul to think my district is full of people who care more about money than children. Adults always teach children to be kind to others and do the right thing, but I don’t think it is the students who need to know that, it is the adults.

In closing, I want to give my gratitude to those who voted yes, and my pity to those who voted no.
