Robert 'Bob' Hubof, 73

| March 15, 2023 1:00 AM

Robert Wayne Hubof (Bob) passed away peacefully in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Feb. 3, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Coeur d’Alene to Frank and Thelma Hubof.

Bob graduated from Post Falls High School in 1968 and Eastern Washington State College in 1972 with a teaching degree. He then became an elementary teacher for 35 years in Post Falls. His booming voice countered his small stature which commanded admiral respect from his students. He had a very positive affect on his students who loved and respected him.

Being a dwarf never limited activities he participated in. He played the trumpet in the high school band, was on the wrestling team and golf team. Bob bragged that no opponent could pin him wrestling because he would arch his back and hold that position. It is said he could drive a golf ball 185 yards.

He was very active in the community volunteering for the Post Falls Police Department where he helped set up in-house training courses, a shooting range and he answered 911 calls while dispatching. He also was a volunteer on the Post Falls Fire Department where he would ride with the firefighters. He was a member of Little People of America where he developed many friends.

Bob’s favorite volunteering position was that of being a Post Falls Lion, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and positive things done for the community. One of his favorite jobs with the Lions Club was that of a ticket taker for their Haunted House where he would try to look scary to those entering. He was awarded a plaque for Humanitarian Services by the Lions Club.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Hubof, and his wives, Brigid and Pam. He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Crowell, grandchildren Presley, Isaac, Riley and Katie, and his brother, Jon Hubof.

Bob will be remembered for his fierce determination, empathy and kindness to others, and the ability to make others laugh by making jokes about himself.

He was always positive about life, never complained and always had a smile on his face. He had an infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor.

He will be missed by many whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, please make any charitable donations to the Post Falls Lions Foundation at P.O. Box 1076, Post Falls, ID 83877. Arrangements are through English Funeral Chapel.
