CDA SCHOOL LEVIES: Vote yes

Twenty dollars a month is enough for a pizza, two glasses of wine, and if I’m lucky a blouse on sale.

In my case, it is also enough to fund the new levy for our schools. When I vote yes, I am paying to increase teacher salaries, so that more of them will stay and teach in Idaho instead of teaching in Spokane. I am paying to increase support personnel more than they could make at a fast-food restaurant, so they might continue to work in the schools. I am paying for textbooks and learning materials so our students have the most up to date information. I’m paying for teaching supplies and libraries. I’m paying for special education services and Career and Tech Ed classes. I am paying for technical staffing to keep us up to date on computers. And I am also paying for School Resource Officers, those officers that showed up at Lake City High School this week not knowing what they might find.

If I can help our students have the best opportunity to grow and learn, to go to college and to make a contribution in our community, that is $20 well spent!

Remember, this levy is replacing the current levy that expires in June.
