PF SCHOOL LEVY: Vote yes

I am a North Idaho resident, born and raised, with three children in the wonderful Post Falls School District. I will be voting YES on March 14 for the Post Falls School District Levy.

You may associate school levies with tax increases. However, this levy will not raise taxes. Post Falls is a fiscally conservative school district, and while increased property valuations and inflation have been burdensome to our community, passage of this levy will not be. It is simply a renewal of an existing levy (that covers extracurriculars such as music and athletics, among other necessities), plus a modest increase for security. Even with that increase, it will not raise taxes.

Having safe, secure schools is very important to me. This levy would allow for additional School Resource Officers at elementary schools, upgraded vestibules at several schools, and updated security cameras districtwide. I have full faith that PFPD has the skill and bravery to stop a tragedy from happening, but they need the tools to help them succeed. We need more officers to be available at our schools, for both security as well as forging positive relationships between students and law enforcement.

Please vote YES next month. If you’re questioning voting YES, please seek facts. There’s a town hall meeting Feb. 27, the PFSD website has transparent information, and Superintendent Dena Naccarato has even been presenting to small groups of concerned citizens in their homes.
