FUNDAMENTAL: Transformation

Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America,” during a campaign rally in Columbus, Mo. — Oct. 30, 2008.

Now, not quite 15 years later, that fundamental transformation has reached so far into our culture that a high school senior in the remote mountain mining town of Kellogg, Idaho, was denied the opportunity to participate in his graduation ceremony. His crime: declaring that “Guys are guys and girls are girls. There is no in-between.” Fundamental transformation now reaches far into the hinterlands.

Karl Marx observed that “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” Is the joke on us as we ignore history and watch the United States America transform into a “woke culture” where public officials, down to the level of high school principals, are obliged to bow to the whims of an Orwellian cultural model?

We observed the 79th anniversary of D-Day Tuesday with very little fanfare. Even so, “There wasn’t a cloud in the sky Saturday, but rainbows filled City Park as thousands gathered for North Idaho Pride Alliance’s annual Pride in the Park celebration.” according to the Coeur d’Alene Press.

“The American citizen soldiers knew the difference between right and wrong, and they didn’t want to live in a world in which wrong prevailed. So, they fought, and won, and all of us, living and yet to be born, must be profoundly grateful.” (Stephen Ambrose on the significance of D-Day.)
