Charles Glenn Sain Jr., 83

Charles Glenn Sain Jr., 83 of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully at Silver Ridge Care Center on Monday, July 3, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born June 11, 1940, in Newton, N.C., to the late Charles Glenn Sain Sr. and Mary Lee Fortenbery Sain. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Paula Toler Sain.

Charlie graduated from Newton-Conover High School in 1958 and attended Brevard College in Brevard, N.C. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Fairbanks, Alaska, followed by Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Following his service, he moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he made a career in real estate and met his wife, Paula. They both shared a sense of adventure that led them to travel all over the world. In 2011, they moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He became a volunteer member of the Silver Angels for the Elderly, a nonprofit organization that gives hope and fellowship to isolated seniors in facilities. Friends and family will lovingly remember him for the laughter he brought through the captivating life stories he shared.

Charlie is survived by his daughters, Ana Lee Parham of Charlotte, N.C., and Alesia Jones of Charleston, W.Va.; two grandsons, Dalton and Jared Jones; his sister, Becky Setzer of Hickory, N.C.; his nephew, Rob Setzer of Wilmington, N.C.; nieces Rebecca Putnam of Raleigh, N.C. and Alison Bellamy of Hampstead, N.C.

A celebration of life service was held Saturday, July 15, 2023. Pastor Larry Comer of Christ the King Lutheran Church officiated. A 21-gun salute followed in honor of his military service. Charlie's ashes were sent to St. Petersburg, Fla., to be spread at sea.
