LEGION BASEBALL: Northern Lakes wins again, plays for title today

MISSOULA, Mont. — Raiston Ellwood had three hits and four RBIs for the Northern Lakes Mountaineers in a 17-2 win over Gonzaga Prep in the Missoula Mavericks A Invitational on Saturday.

Jace Cooksey and Tadhg Ellwood had three RBIs each for Northern Lakes, which scored nine runs in the fourth inning — all with two outs — to put the game away.

Northern Lakes (19-8), 4-0 in tourney play, had already clinched a spot in the championship game after Friday's victory. The Mountaineers will play today at 4 p.m. PDT against an opponent to be determined earlier today.

WHITEFISH, Mont. — The Lumbermen were held to four hits in a loss to the Spokane Expos Webb 18U in their third game at the Ed Gallo Memorial Tournament at Memorial Field.

The lone run for Coeur d’Alene (15-13) came in the third inning when Travis Usdrowski singled and scored on a single by Kyle Bridge.

Cooper Erickson struck out five and walked one for the Lums, and only one of the four Expos runs were earned. Two Coeur d’Alene errors in the first inning helped the Spokane team score three runs.

The Lums, 1-2 in the tourney, wrap up play today.
