FREEDOMS: Protected by government, not obstructed

I can’t believe how paranoid the locals seem to be. If you’re not running from robbing a bank, why do you care if someone takes your picture?

I was driving north on U.S. 95 last week. A fire engine with lights flashing and siren sounding was headed south. All the lanes were blocked and drivers didn’t know that they should have pulled over to let the fire engine pass so the fire engine was stopped for a long time.

How often have we wondered why in the world the lights couldn’t be coordinated better? I remember a light turning green on north 95 and seeing it turn green at the same time a long way south telling me that when I got to the next light, it would be red. The proposed system, as I understand it, would clear the road for emergency vehicles and better coordinate the timing of lights for motorists. Wow is that ever sinister! Woooo. It just might be your house that burns while the fire engine is stuck in traffic.

To all these government haters, what exactly do you want to do that the government is prohibiting? Do you want to rob banks, assault people, hunt game to extinction, run your motorcycle on a sidewalk? The government protects you from bad air, bad water (cryptosporidium is no joke), criminals, planes crashing into each other, etc. I don’t notice my life impeded by my government. Instead, I find my freedoms exist because of my government.
