| January 31, 2023 1:00 AM

Jerry Ross Rumelhart was born Jan. 31, 1932, to Lloyd and Marie (Lorenze) Rumelhart in Ree Heights, S.D. At the age of 5, Jerry’s family moved west to Harrison, Idaho. He grew up there and graduated from Harrison High School in 1950. Jerry enlisted in the National Guard and following entered the United States Army. Jerry and Bonnie (Ward) were school sweethearts and later were united in marriage on May 25, 1952 at the Baptist Church in Harrison. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Jeannie and Quella and 70 years marriage together. The couple made their home and raised their family in Hayden, Idaho. Jerry worked for the sawmills and then went to work for Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, retiring in 1998. In recent years, Jerry’s health began to decline with COPD. Jerry died peacefully at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Jan. 25, 2023, at the age of 90.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and tractors, and built many windmills. He could do and fix most anything. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bonnie; his daughters, Jeannie (and Jeff) Passer and Quella Rumelhart; grandchildren, Jake and Julia Luchini; brother Donald “DB” (and Betty) Rumelhart; and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Marie; siblings Rance and Leslie Rumelhart, and Joanne Esmay.

Blessed and eternal be the memory of Jerry Ross Rumelhart.
