NIC basketball teams to participate in Coaches vs. Cancer

COEUR d'ALENE — North Idaho College's basketball teams will participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer campaign Saturday at Christianson Gymnasium.

NIC will face Yakima Valley College. The women’s game starts at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4.

The coaches of each team will wear sneakers with their suits/dress attire as part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness and encourage people to educate themselves on the importance of prevention, screening and early detection of cancer, all while raising funds to help save lives.

The NIC athletic department will accept donations throughout the afternoon and will host halftime games to raise funds.

The Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn will match NIC’s fundraiser up to $250. All proceeds go to Kootenai Clinic Cancer Services to support local cancer research, services, awareness and promote cancer prevention efforts.

Only cash and check donations can be accepted. Checks can be made out to Kootenai Clinic Cancer Services.
