REGAN: Smartest in the room?

I know it is clearly labeled “Opinion” (as contrasted with “factual”), and I know that I am not forced to read it, but do we have to keep being offered the opinions of the Wannabe Fuhrer Of The Fourth Reich in our local paper? Mary Souza has characterized him as believing he is always the smartest person in the room. If that is so, why does he always take column-feet of space to explain “common sense” issues which could be intelligently explained in column-inches? Although considering the people he regularly associates with (NIC board Bozos, incompetent assessor, racist/anti-semitic imported school board candidate, etc.), maybe he really is the smartest person in the room.
