KINDNESS: Can save a life

As we enter this new year, I would like to spread a message of kindness and joy to all. You never know when a smile or a kind word may help an individual in crisis or in need. There are many tribulations in life and it may seem at times it can feel like just too much. Folks, hang in there. We are in this together, and there are resources for help. I would like to advertise the crisis hotline. The number is 988, and specifically for veterans dial 988 then press pound 1. This line is available 24/7 and staffed by trained counselors.

Did you know sadly, 22 veterans a year commit suicide. This is just tragic. If you are in need of talking to someone and in crisis mode, call 988. You are valuable. The American Legion, VFW and DAV have programs also available to assist veterans in crisis. Find your own support network. So, to recap — smile, spread kindness. You may never know the significance of your actions.
