PF SCHOOL LEVY: Deserves your support

Please vote “yes” on the Post Falls School District Supplemental Levy request on March 14.

The district has a proven track record of being fiscally conservative and doing more with less. The current levy request is an enhancement from years past because the district is asking for additional funding for school safety measures. This includes school police officers, security personnel and updated security cameras. Your school district taxes will not increase with this levy.

Though called “supplemental,” the March 14 levy is actually an essential part of the funding for Idaho school districts. Almost every school district has a levy to help with day-to-day maintenance of buildings, utilities and necessary personnel not funded by the state allocation. PFSD has one of the lowest per capita levies in the state for like-sized school districts. Also, school districts are unique because they receive only the requested dollar amount approved by the local taxpayers, no matter how much growth occurs.

The hardworking Post Falls School District teachers and staff are dedicated to making sure their 6,050 students have the best possible educational opportunities. Please vote “yes” to keep our precious students and staff safe, so they can focus on doing their respective jobs. I urge you to support this important fundamental levy request on March 14.
